Linda Jennings - PCC Foundation Governor: Chair of Board
I became a Governor at Hartlip (Endowed) Church of England Primary School 4 years ago, first as Deputy Chair and then as Chair, the current position I have held for the past 2 years. After 30 years of running my own business in the Middle East, during which time I helped set up schools and supplied ongoing educational material requirements to educational establishments throughout the region, I retired back to England.
I am happy to continue using my experience by supporting the school community in this role as Chair of the Board of Governors. As a practicing Christian and a member of the benefice of The Six, it is a privilege to be so closely involved ensuring that children in the village have access to high quality education whilst flourishing under our Christian school values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Peace, Trust and Thankfulness.
Janine Hamilton - PCC Foundation Governor: Vice Chair
I am a mother, carer, lecturer and PhD research student within the school of Social Work and Education based in Canterbury. I also have over thirty years’ experience of working in both London and globally within the advertising sector. I have served as a Foundation Governor at Hartlip School since 2000 and am also the Vice-Chair. Within the school, my roles and responsibilities include being the lead Governor for Safeguarding, sitting on the Quality of Education Committee and heading up the Head Teacher Performance Management Committee.
I grew up in Upchurch and am an active member of the congregation at St Michael and All Angels Church in Hartlip. As a Christian, I believe in the School’s Christian vision and values which govern school life and shape attitudes to learning. I also support the strong relationship between the local School and Church which sets an inclusive foundation for how we can all treat each other with respect and kindness.
Elizabeth Hadley – PCC Foundation Governor
Having been a Governor at Hartlip School for 10 years, undertaking a variety of roles, I chose not to renew my membership on the Governing Body in May 2025. However, I continued to occasionally attend Friday School Worship and still felt a close connection with the school, its pupils, staff and governors.
As the Governing body still lacked the required number of Foundation Governors, and with the experience of a working life in Primary Education, I applied to be reinstated. My application was supported by the Incumbent, the PCC and approved by the Diocese. My new term of office started on March 3rd 2026.
As before my focus, as a governor, remains the same.I want to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of every child is paramount along with the aim that each pupil, regardless of disadvantages or disabilities, achieves his/her potential.
Ryan Condron
My two older children attended Hartlip School, with both continuing their studies at Borden Grammar School, and the eldest now at University. My youngest child currently attends Hartlip School. This is my tenth year as a parent at Hartlip School and my experience is one of admiration for all the staff who really do go above and beyond to nurture and care for the children.
I am the Associate Director for Procurement and Partnerships for a local healthcare provider. I am also a trustee of the charity Medway Cares and have previously sat as Deputy Chair of the Elected Members Forum of a local Social Enterprise Community Interest Company and have been a Parish Councillor in Newington. These roles provide me with an understanding of the public sector, local issues and exposure to the wider educational system.
I want Hartlip School to be the best it can be, whether in terms of educational performance, financial stability or in its pastoral responsibilities. I care deeply about Hartlip School and want to see it go from strength to strength; being a Parent Governor provides me with both the opportunity and responsibility to ensure this occurs.
As well as attending Full Governing Body meetings as a Parent Governor, I Chair the Finance and Resources Committee and am the link governor for cybersecurity.
Tracey Jerome - Headteacher
It is an honour to be Headteacher of Hartlip Endowed Church England Primary School. I have 32 years’ experience in the teaching profession and have taught at five different schools in Medway and Kent on the journey to accepting my first headship at Hartlip. I always wanted to be a teacher, a passion which had my love of children at the heart of it, wanting to make a difference in their lives. I truly believe in the saying: one childhood, one chance. I am driven by the vision to ensure that every child’s experience of school is a happy one. I want children to look back on school with fond memories, recalling events and sharing them with their families in years to come.
My journey to headship has been shaped by the different settings I have worked in under the guidance and challenge of inspirational leaders. This has set the agenda for the leader that I now strive to be, drawing on all that I have learnt. For the last 26 years, it has been the arrival of my own children which drive me on a daily basis. Every moment of every day is the time for me to ask myself the question if what I am delivering, planning and setting direction for is good enough for the two children around whom my world revolves. If the answer to that question is not a loud, resounding yes, then it is a non-starter. If it’s not good enough for my own, why would it be good enough for the children, parents and community I serve?
As a Governor of Hartlip School, I am privileged to work with a dedicated group of people, all serving the school in the best interests of our children and families. I pride myself on being a reflective practitioner and so welcome their challenge along with all stakeholders: parents, carers, children, extended family and Trustees. Together we all ensure that: one childhood, one chance, means delivery of the very best that we can.
Noel Lander – Foundation Governor
I joined the School’s Governing Body in July 2019 as a Foundation Governor.
I am married with two children who are both at school such that I am acutely aware of the importance of primary education providing the backbone of a child’s learning and development.
Since moving to Hartlip in 2009, I have taken an active role in village life and am part of the congregation at St Michael and All Angels Church, both of which enthused me to joining the School’s Governing Body.
My experience as a Senior Director in a leading global real estate company enables me to make a positive contribution to the strategic direction of the School as well as promoting the working relationship between the School and the Church.
Angela Edwards - Local Authority Governor
As a child, the only career I ever wanted was to be a teacher. Successful learning and all the benefits and advantages it brings for children has remained a passion and focus all through my life. I am a retired Executive Head Teacher of several primary schools and have experience of a wide range of schools – local authority primary schools, academies, Church schools – both Catholic and Church of England in a range of social areas of Kent and Medway, taking on a wide range of roles from class teacher to executive head. I have been involved with several governing bodies and academy trust boards for many years in many different roles. I am the Local Authority representative on the governing body.
I have lived on the outskirts of Hartlip for over 30 years, having inherited step-daughters and then grandchildren. They will tell you the first question I ask them is about school! I love to travel, so some of my involvement with the school is from a distance – the joys of distance learning and connection.
